| Dharam Dev Anand, Bollywood's Legendary Actor, Director & Producer of Navketan International Films is no more with us due to suffering from cardiac arrest. Dev Sahab breathed his last in London on December 3, 2011. Dr. Anurita Kapur is deeply grieving his loss. After her return from the funeral in London, Anurita is paying her condolences by sponsoring a Shanti Puja for Dev Sahab's soul to rest in peace (RIP) in the U.S. and a Tribute for him. Dev Sahab was a friend, mentor and a well-wisher for Anurita. She had rendered her medical services to him. She said, "he was a lovely person full of life with great looks that were aesthetically pleasing to the eyes". Anurita added, "truly Dev Sahab was an Evergreen Star with a charismatic personality, speech and debonair style. He was compared to the handsome Hollywood Actor, Gregory Peck". Anurita said, "he just knew what to say at the right time to uplift someone's spirits, he was full of life and had a great inspiring effect on people around him". He will be dearly missed by Anurita. She said, "Dev Sahab you have a special respect and place in my heart - I can never forget you. I pray that God give your soul rest and peace and courage to all of us you left behind to mourn over you. He was a jewel in India's crown." Dev Sahab's (final samskara - antyeshti known as the last rites) cremation will be held in London on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Putney Wales Crematorium in South London at 11:40 a.m. (local time). It will be followed by a condolence Memorial Service at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in West Kensington at 2:00 p.m. After the cremation his ashes will be brought back to India and the country will get a chance to mourn him. There will be a Memorial Service at Mehboob Studios on Thursday, December 15, 2011 in Mumbai, India. After the Memorial Service at Mehboob Studios the ashes will be immersed in the Holy Godavari River in Nasik, India. The Godavari (Marathi: गोदावरी) is a river that runs from western to southern India and is considered to be one of the big river basins in India. With a length of 1465 km, it is the second longest river in India (only after the Ganga), that runs within the country and also the longest river in South India. Anurita has received hundreds of condolences from political leaders, foreign diplomats, community dignitaries, religious heads, medical doctors and showbiz from many nationalities worldwide including Indians, Pakistanis, Americans and many other countries all around the world that knew of the 'Legendary Dev Saab' and are mourning his loss. | With more than a 100 films to his credit as an actor, most of them as the leading man, Dev Sahab surely weaved his magic & charm on screen, that had a mesmerising effect on his heroines. Be it Suraiya, Geeta Bali, Madhubala, Waheeda Rehman ,Hema Malini, or Tina Munim or Zeenat Aman in his later years, he was really popular amongst the ladies for his impeccable style & his debonair looks. Some of his best works included C.I.D, Guide, Jewel Thief, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Teen Devian, Hum Dono, Kala Paani, Kala Baazar, Johnny Mera Naam, Prem Pujari, Paying Guest etc. He also directed 19 films & produced 35 films under his own production house "Navketan International Films". His movies had some of the most romantic songs ever of Indian cinema. Who can forget the melodious " Phoolon Ke Rang Se" picturized in a moving train & the very cool" Churhi Nahin Yeh Mera Dil Hai" with Zaheeda & sung by the magical Kishore Kumar. "Panna Ki Tamanna" picturized on Zeenat , "Dil Ka Bhanwar Kare Pukar", " Tere Mere Sapne" or the trendy "Yeh Dil Na Hota Bechara" that had some of the best yoodling, Aise na mujhe tum dekho, Neend churake raaton mein, Dil mein jo baatein hain, O mere raja, Gaata rahe mera dil, just to name a few of my favorites since childhood. The fragrance of these songs still lingers on even after so many years. The name Dev Anand was synonymous with style. A fashion icon in his own way, be his scarves, mufflers, fedora hats, flat caps, or his casual orange or pink trousers, his trendy jackets or jumpers or formal western suits, Dev Sahab had a knack for elegant dressing. And who can forget his awesome " Puffed style" quite reminiscent of Hollywood actors, became quite a rage in his time. Dev Anand will always rule in our hearts. His zeal for cinema & life in general was unmatched & unparalleled. Always on the move & looking for new places to shoot his projects, Dev Saab defied the age barrier. He always remained young at heart. His charming ways & stylish mannerisms will always linger on in my heart forever. Just like his evergreen song" Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhaata Chala Gaya", he surely lived life to the fullest. The void left by him is hard to fill. I all pray that his soul rest in peace. The world and I will miss you, Dev Sahab. |

| After paying due respect at the Crematorium to Dev Saab in London, Dr. Anurita Kapur, M.D. returned to the U.S. while still in mourning she paid her condolence also in the United States by sponsoring a 'Shanti Puja' (Prayers for Peace for his soul) at a Hindu Temple in U.S.A for Dharam Dev Anand, Legendary 'Evergreen Superstar', Producer and Director of Bollywood - Navketan International Films. The 'Shanti Puja' was held on December 16, 2011. |
